Pelican Products Case Hard Case

Strength:
Built like a tank, the Pelican case suffers untold abuses and the equipment inside always comes up unscathed.
Weakness:
It's really heavy (but in a reassuring way) and therefore can be awkward to move with quickly. The velcro divider option (as opposed to the foam) doesn't provide very snug protection without additional inserts. If you're taking your equipment out of the studio and into the unknown, Pelican will offer security and peace of mind. Customer Service ? Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Very bombproof, both impact and water resistant.
Weakness:
Unfortunately, Pelican only makes movable foam inserts for the larger cases, so I've gone through several foam blocks over the years as I've changed what I use.. The foam replacements can be hard to find and sometimes you need to order them from Pelican. I had my camera in a pelican case on a two-week raft trip. It endured constant splashing and two flips, where the case was underwater for about an hour each time. It came up dry. It also endured plenty of blowing sand. Case
Strength:
Durable & waterproof
Weakness:
Hard to open or close I have kept my Kodak 265 digital camera in a smaller Pelican case for over a year now! It is so nice to not have to worry about my camera getting wet or crushed. The case is rock solid and seals tight, yes I have tested it. My only complaint is that at times the latches can be almost too difficult to open or close- especially for anyone with nails. If you are looking for a case to protect something you paid lots of money for- out in a Pelican. Customer Service Never needed Similar Products Used: None! |

Case
Strength:
Tough
Weakness:
When you stack several of the cases on top of one another, they tend to slide around. It would be nice it they had an interlocking system or flatter sides. Have had to resort to no-slip stickers on the sides of the cases. If you have equipment that you need to protect from environmental concers or mild impacts it is hard to beat these cases. They are very well thought out and work very well. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Many other brands of water tight and impact resistant cases |

Case
Strength:
Nearly indistructable, waterproof, floats, will not dent.
Weakness:
None at all These series of cases are the top of the line. I took my SLR on a week long canoe trip to the boundary waters in Minnesota, and couldn't have felt more secure with my camera in this case! They make one in just about any size. I got the 1400 which is perfect for my N70 with 2 spare lenses and some film. Customer Service none required, but have lifetime warranty Similar Products Used: none, there really isn't any competition. |

Case
Strength:
Extremely rugged, reliably waterproof, several interior options.
Weakness:
Could use a few lash points for attachments/attaching. This is the only case I'll trust on a river trip or sea kayaking. As the other reviews indicate, these are tough, well designed and built cases. Pelican has a number of options for the inside. If you like foam block inserts (I don't) they offer a pluck insert for easier customizing. For the medium and larger cases, Pelican offers padded divider inserts with velcro patches that do a great job of adapting to your gear and easily changing to meet your needs. For the 1520 box (one of the sizes I own) Pelican has an insert that doubles as a full-on soft case on its own. I'm looking to add one of the new Photographer's Lid Organizers Pelican offers that has multiple pockets and holders for film and accessories. This organizer mounts in place of the eggcrate foam in the case lid. An aftermarket manufacturer makes a pack system that uses specific Pelican cases; it's called the X-Pack. The only thing I'd like to see on Pelican cases is multiple strap slots that would make it easier to secure a case or strap on accessories like a tripod. No other case offers this feature, either, but it would extend the versatility of these tough cases. Customer Service N/A, but lifetime warranty is excellent. Similar Products Used: Zero |

Case
Strength:
Great, versatile cases that are virtually indestructible.
Weakness:
none. Pelican cases are the most versatile cases ever made. Constructed of hard plastic, they can be dropped, kicked, bumped, dropped in water and put through most any kind of torture you can think of with little or no damage to the case or equipment. O-rings around the lid and base keep equipment dry, and removable foam squares allow for any type of gear to be stored. I use the cases for video equipment now and am going to purchase one for my 35mm SLR soon. Not really for beginning photographer with little equipment, but a great value for those who are gradually gaining gear. Customer Service never needed Similar Products Used: None |

Case
Strength:
I'm on a SWAT team and we use these cases exclusively. Worth every penny. We use these to protect expensive rifles with optics that rival anything you would put on a camera. This equipment is thrown into vehicles, on the ground, walked on. If it's good enough to protect gear that saves lives, it's good enough to protect my camera.
Weakness:
NONE. Best case for any cost. Customer Service Never had to use them in the 17+ years we have used them in Law Enforcement. Similar Products Used: Various other hard cases that either aren't as well made or if made of metal, are dented and they are scared for th |

Case
Strength:
Sturdy, weather resistant, baggage handler proof.
Weakness:
None. I bought this case 17 years ago and it has been in service since. I have only had to replace the inner foam, and only because my equipment changed. I have seen others with aluminum cases and Zero cases, they just seemed to heavy and I don't know if I could trust there claims of ruggedness. When I first got mine I threw it in the pool and actually had to stand on it to get it to go underwater, as it floats. It was a cool experiment, nothing wet inside, although I did this without any equipment in the case. I would give it 5 stars but at the time I bought it I thought it was expensive. Also the older model I have does not have a folding handle. Customer Service None needed. Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Very well built case. I use theit 1200 case to hold my Nikon N80 and various other camera junk. Survived getting run over by a powerboat and geting hit by a football- HARD. Casmera always comes out fine, as does the case.
Weakness:
My camera has a neck strap, which has to be folded prior to closing the lid, as this will get caught in the seal and consequentially keep the lid from closing. My case is black and sometimes people ask me if it is a bomb, but other than thatr it is nearly perfect. Don't forget to close the purge valve before geting the case wet! Extremely rugged case, not too much of a pain to lug around, but sometimes is had to get the camera out FAST. Customer Service Not needed. Similar Products Used: Otter box cases, various soft cases |
