Strength:
Fit, function, everything! Well made, well designed. Holds a boatload of gear plus everything you'll need for a day on the trail or on the peaks.
Weakness:
None. Well, maybe they could have made the accessory pocket on the waistbelt moveable, so you can pull it around to the front for easier access. I switched to the MS Parallax Pro because other brands I've owned are too heavy and gadgety. My most recent pack of another brand had specific pockets for every digital gadget available, but no place to stash lunch, extra clothing and a first aid kit. I wound up having to buy several accessory pockets (specific to their attachment system!) to be able to hold everything I needed for a day on the trail. The outside of the pack looked like a clusterfxxx! Also, other brands' packs of similar size are heavy, usually weighing 3 to 4 pounds more for the empty pack. The Parallax has a great supension, and the access through the back panel is great. Another bonus of this design is that the heavy camera gear is kept close to your back, making the load much more stable. The two large outer pockets have plenty of room for extra clothes, food, and other goodies. The main camera compartment is well padded and easily customizable. I can get 2 bodies, flash, viewfinder magnifier, 70-200 f4, 400 5.6, 18-55, 8-16, 50 macro, extension tubes, and 2 Pelican memory card holders in the main area, and a variety of other accessories in the zippered compartments in the lid. I keep 5 batteries, a wired remote and a lens cloth in the built-in zippered pouch on the waist belt. the tripod holder works well anf will accomdate a good sized pod, and the water bottle pockets will each hold a 1 liter Nalgene bottle. This pack feels like a hiker or climber designed it - comfortable and practical. Where as some other brands feel more like a marketer designed them (a marketer whose goals is to maximize accessory pouch sales and who wants to win the, "Our pack has more bells and whistles than yours" race). This is great pack at a great price. Mountainsmith knows hiking and climbing gear, and they have successfully ported this knowledge into their photo gear. If you're serious about actually hiking and climbing with your camera gear, this is the way to go. Customer Service None needed.
