Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $90.00

Summary:

If you really NEED a zoom, I suggest you don't buy this one. But if you just WANT one in case you MIGHT need it during a trip of to go under the weather without worrying... then go ahead.

Strengths:

You'll be able to take those one-in-a-while pictures. And if you don't have to use it, you won't regret spending much money or carrying a big lens. To be possitive: a toy lens that performs almost as a real one.

Weaknesses:

As said, almost everything is "low profile" in this model. I mostly missed light in my finder, and needed fast film to shoot at 210 mm.

Similar Products Used:

Tamron's 70-210/3.5 SP (a much better beast), 60-300/3.5-5.6

Customer Service:

never needed it.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $150.00 from B&H

Summary:

I bought this for a light and compact travel lens. I have long used Tamrons and have three others. This one was a disappointment. Fit of the zoom collar was sloppy and the front section wobbled. Not a confidence producing start. I found it to be mediocre in optical performance on a Pentax Super Program. (my larger 70-210 Tamron is tack sharp)Low contrast and not really sharp. The "macro" range is all but worthless. My problems could be sample related. But I wasn''t willing to try another one.

Strengths:

Light and compact. Close focus at 210 mm.

Weaknesses:

Sloppy fits, soft images with low contrast. Macro unsharp.
