Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $240.00 from McBain Camera

Summary:
I bought this lens after deciding that I could not justify spending $2000 on a Leica 24mm Elmarit as this is not an oft used focal lenght for me. I'm definitey pleased. It is sharp and contrasty and decently built. My only consideration was that with only 5 aperture blades the dreaded 'bokeh' would not match the look of my Leica lenses. But I quickly found that a 24 stopped down one or two stops has no out of focus background to worry about anyway.

Strengths:
Well made, sharp, contrasty relatively inexpensive.

Weaknesses:
None so far

Similar Products Used:
24's in Nikon, Olympus.

Customer Service:
Needed the lens in a rush and my dealer didn't have one in stock. The distributor shipped one cross country via air for next day delivery at no charge.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Jessops, Aberdeen

Summary:
I love this lens!! I use this lens and a 35mm f1.4 nikkor all the time on my FM2. It is very well built, has never caused me any problems & is very sharp.

Strengths:
Sharp, well made, decent price.

Weaknesses:
focus direction differs from my nikkors, which is Nikons problem, not Tamron being different.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $181.00 from eBay

Summary:
There are two versions of this lens: both have the same optical design. The older version has more metal and rubber ring, the newer version has a plastic window to show the aperture. I used both version. I had the older version before and then sold it to a friend in a package deal. And just got the new version at eBay. This lens is about 1/2 stop faster than the usual f2.8 lens. Build quanlity is superb. Optics on the par with the Nikon''s. Very handy and often used focal length. It can fit any camera with proper adaptall-2 mount.

Strengths:
Fits almost all brands of 35mm SLR. Optics very sharp.

Weaknesses:
Pricy
