Summary:

Superb image sharpness, colour rendition and bokeh for a zoom. An a amazing lens. Build quality.

Strengths:

Superb image sharpness, colour rendition and bokeh for a zoom. Power zoom is a useful feature and build quality is excellent.

Weaknesses:

This lens is heavy.

Price Paid:  $1300.00 from B&H

Summary:

Superbly sharp but tiring if not used on a tripod because of its weight.

Strengths:

Extremely sharp lens, even wide open. Rugged build with all metal barrel.

Weaknesses:

Heavy, but no more so than other comparable lenses from other manufacturers. Power zoom feature doesn't work on some Pentax bodies and can drain the batteries a lot on ones that have small batteries like the ZX-5n.

Summary:

The sharpness and flare control are very good, but the AF is a bit slower and not possible for sport shoots, but still OK for taking portrait photos.

Strengths:

Excellent optics, very good surface finishing and the construction give me very solid feeling.

Weaknesses:

Slower AF compared with USM or AFS, price is a bit higher than similar class models.

Nikon AFS 80-200F2.8, Tokina AF 80-200F2.8, Canon EF 70-200F4L.
