Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $265.00 from Pentax Warehouse Sale

Summary:

This optic is uncanny. It is owned in the A version, but works well with the focus indicators for careful composition and exposure on the Z, LX and P series cameras. It is the same as the FA version. Great optic! Use a tripod to carefully compose, and a focus screen with grid lines to maintain perspective. This makes the Rocky Mountains jump.

Strengths:

Good for twilight and for foreground dominant compositions. Good color and detail.

Weaknesses:

Much larger than the old f4 M series, which is equally good.

Similar Products Used:

Nikkor 20mm f 2.8

Customer Service:

No trouble to date.

Review 3 of 5

Summary:

Ok in trueth I use the 20mm A f2.8 version. My understanding is that these lenses are optically identical. It's a fun lens. I use it in a lot of forest shots where I need to push away the trees (prevent crowding). I use this lens also in travel to get indoor shots (watch for that light falloff if you are trying to use a flash) and for cityscapes in Europe. It's a lot of fun. One of my best lenses-surprised it isn't an A*!

Strengths:

Sharp even at f2.8. Great focal length.

Weaknesses:

Lens hood costs how much? Over $55!!!!

Weaknesses:

None
