Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $999.00 from GoodGuys

Summary:

This camera was on sale as an "Open Box" deal. I decided on it since no other camera I have been able to find could come close to the feature set, nor the quality of the video. Someone complained about the poor quality of the digital stills, well this is a VIDEO camera, not a STILL camera. Anyways, the still are acceptable for small portraits. If I want more, I''ll get a dedicated still camera. I am very impressed and pleased by the feature that makes it possible to import video from my VCR into the camera and then edit on my Mac G4. The video quality is very good. Color saturation beats out a previous camera, the Canon ZR50MC. I like the size and arrangement of features. NO complaints whatsoever.

Strengths:

Video Quality, Video Input (S-Video)

Weaknesses:

Stills, lack of accessories

Similar Products Used:

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $1700.00 from on-line

Summary:

Returned due to still quality. Background: I owned the Canon G1 until my father in-law ask me to sell it to him. How can you get a few hundred dollars from the guys who give his daughter to me (she earn darn good salary). Anyway, I gave up on the video/still combination. So I got the G2 and waiting for a better video cam with Leica optic!

Strengths:

Leica fingerprint: depth, sharp & vabriant color. Solid build with perfect dimension and weight!

Weaknesses:

Leica lense - need lots of light; 3 tiny CCDs

Similar Products Used:

Sony
