Panasonic PV-DV701

I''ve owned a full-size VHS camcorder for years and got tired of the size and weight. The video quality on the new unit is like night and day. This is everything you hoped your new camcorder would be. It is quite good in low light situations even without the low light mode and included (!) on-camera lamp. The stereo mike does seem somewhat weak. I also purchased Pyro''s kit with firewire and Adobe Premiere LE. These two together make up an excellent combination for recording family memories or even producing small movies. I have not even tried the still features of the camcorder. I guess if you want to e-mail some shots to relatives that would be fine, but for printing, don''t bother. I didn''t want that feature and don''t believe the combination makes a lot of sense. This model is discontinued, but the newer ones should be as good if not better. If you can find one of these as a leftover, snatch it up as it is a really good buy.
