Summary: I needed a camera for the typical family stuff. I looked around on the net for a bout 6 weeks and found on paper that the PVDV600 was in my humble opinion the best value. I paid 625.00 (with 100.00 rebate) shipped from BeachCamera.com, by the way BeachCamera shipping and overall transaction was just fine. Now that I have the camera I can say that it seems to be everything I expected it to be. The features are plentiful, the ability to transfer old tapes to the DV was a big deal for me. Not that many cameras in this price range were able to do so. The battery life seems poor with all the DV cameras. I bought the extra life battery and it goes for 1.5hr. The picture quality is great, sound seems fine and it's easy for my wife to use. And you know how it goes, if she's happy I'm happy.
