Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $130.00 from E-Bay

Summary:

I bought this camera as my 1st effort at digital photography. I have been shooting film for 25 years, and film is expensive when you are a shooter. The differences from film to digital were large at first, then you settle in and go. The 3000 has been a stallion for me. Totally faithful and never failing. It has traveled far and wide, in my pocket on snowmobile trips, and to the beaches of Mexico without fail. Now after having a few more cameras in the stable to compare it to, I appreciate the strength of this camera more and more. The 3.3 mp sensor will produce wonderful outdoor shots, with true colors that do not look too "pumped up". The 2x zoom is limited, but better than none. The 3x digital zoom it pretty good for digital zoom. The flash is not the best, and you will find a slight zoom and 6' away as best. But going on my 4th year with this guy, I cannot let it go, as it has been as dependable as the daylight in the morning.

Strengths:

Dependability. Optical zoom. Outdoor true colors. AA batteries. Video direct to t.v.. Sound with video clips. SD cards.

Weaknesses:

Smallish non-light efficient lens. Short optical zoom...3x would be nice. Short movie length...5 sec. amx. No lens cap, eventhough I've not had a problem.

Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

For the money I spent, the performance of this camera is pathetic. The camera is totally useless indoors. Anytime I use the flash, all I get ia a big white flash. The batteries don't last and even go dead while the camera is turned off. I have to remove them from the camera when I am not using it in order to keep them from going dead. The image quality is also poor, especially in the dark areas, with lots of noticable artifacts. I would give a rating of 0 if that was an option.

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

It just does not work in most situations. Battery performance is terrible.

Customer Service:

Not helpful. Just gives you the run around.

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $275.00 from ebay

Summary:

This camera is GREAT if you can get it for under $300. It takes movie clips, has several resolution setting, can capture up to 3 images in rapid succession, can record sound, plays back sound through speaker on camera, has a great (if little) display, just tons of features. I love this camera!!

Strengths:

Great resolution choices, I love multimedia cards for storage, they're so small, and prices are really falling! I love the option of video clips in emailable size. I love adding sound to pictures, and the automatic exposure does a pretty awesome job. This camera has quite a few professional level options and is still very accessible to the beginner. It's comfortable in your hand, is also kinda' cute, (Mine gets looks from passers-by), and if you buy 1800 maH rechargeable AA NiMH batteries, you won't be disappointed by battery consumption.

Weaknesses:

No availability for lenscap. This one kills me because I'm brutal to a camera. I sure wish I could screw on a filter or clip on a lenscap, but I haven't killed it yet!! (I have 3 little kids, and usually just wear it around my neck, so it takes a beating) I wish I better understood how to translate aperture and shutter speeds as they relate to this digital camera for manual exposure settings. As it doesn't use film, it's really hard for me to calculate. The step up/down by an exposure level didn't help me much, but, it's there if you understand it.

My 1st dig. cam was a 640x480 polaroid. Not even in the same league, it did give me the bug for dig. photography. Then I bought an HP 1.1 megapixel, which I liked so much, I returned then bought this

Customer Service:

this one I'm not sure about. I bought this camera from ebay, but I did call them once and they seemed helpful. I think there's a 90day full replacement guarantee.........

Review 4 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

The PV-DC3000 is my first digital camera. I am impressed with its numerous features and its compact size.

Strengths:

I am delighted with the ease of use and the amazingly sharp images. The ability to add sound and record motion images is even more amazing for a camera around $300.

Weaknesses:

1. It comes with a AC adapter which to my suprise does not charge the batteries. I guess its intent is to reduce the drain on the batteries during PC transfer. The drain on ordinary alkaline batteries is quit rapid. I soon invested in nickel metal-hydride rechargable batteries and charger. 2. The battery condition indicator is not very accurate, it shows 100% full for a long time then suddenly it drops to 60-70 % and drops very faast thereafter. 3. Lacks choice of resolution. You must chose either 3.3 Mega pixel (TFF/Super fine/Fine) or 786K pixel (Normal/2x). 4. The resolution for digital zoom is fixed at 1024 x 768 for 2X and 640 x 480 for 3X. 5. Slow to shoot. After about 1 minute of no activity the power automatically turns off (to conserve batteries). Now it takes 8-10 seconds to power up, test fucus etc to record the next image. 6. When connected to TV, image does not show for RECORD mode, only PLAY mode. 7. When connected to TV it expects LCD to be on. Turning off LCD to conserve battery also turns off image on TV. 8. Occasionally hangs up following PLAY of motion image when connected to TV. Controls go dead and automatically powers off after about a m

Review 5 of 8

Price Paid:  $349.00 from OfficeMax

Summary:

Good, easy to use camera. (Once you get used to it) I have not experienced any loss of quality with lower light situations. It does eat batteries. Might be worth calling the manufacturer about. It seems to only like new batteries and only uses about 35% of them before it needs new ones. The batteries are still good for other uses. It does use alot of battery power to download images into the computer. I recommend using the AC adapter that comes with it for doing such.

Strengths:

It''s easy to review taken pictures and delete them before going to the computer. Has nice picture manipulation features built in. Compact design makes it easy to hold onto and use. It''s very ergonomic.

Weaknesses:

Eats batteries and it is a little slow between pictures.
