from B&H Summary: This is a first zoom lens owned by me for the older manual focus OM system. I like the lens and have captured some decent images with it under ideal circumstances, but the fact that the zoom slides in and out so easily when the lens is tipped up or down makes it difficult to work with--thus pulling the overall rating down to 2 stars. The lens is inexpensive and works well for static photography, so I'll give it 3 stars on the value rating. Strengths: Compact & light Weaknesses: * Focal ratio too slow for low light (stadium-lit softball game) telephoto work * Single control for both zoom and focus is tricky for accurate focusing on action photography. *Unless the lens is pointed near horizontal, it has a tendency to slide on the zoom axis (i.e. if you're pointing the lens downwards, the zoom adjustment will slide higher (zoom in) by itself. Similar Products Used: Older manual focus, fixed focal ratio Canon zoom lens. Pentax AF "normal" zoom (variable focal ratio). Customer Service: *Haven't required service on equipment *Ordered product brochures on-line and received them not "right away", but after a while *Requested old user manuals for winder and OM-2 and received Xerox copies free of charge after several weeks.
