Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

simply the best 180mm lens, and simply the best telelens in the range of 180-200mm.

Strengths:

one of the examples that shows the excellency what the Olympus people can do!?xD;?xA;great image quality, closes minimum focus distance unmatched by any of the 180mm lenses today!

Weaknesses:

isn't it a bit too big? :)

Similar Products Used:

nikkor 180/2.8 if-ed

Customer Service:

none if you take good care of it.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $2250.00 from Melbourne

Summary:

An absolutely wonderful lens. Would never sell it. Olympus is the Japanese Leica and at first it was a case of Olympus copying Leica. This lens is a case where Leica has emulated Olympus. This is much lighter than Leica's version and will repay you in joy many times over if you ever have the opportunity to own one.

Strengths:

Superb contrast and resolution. Beautifully balanced and easy to use with Motor Drive 2 attached. The focus is very smooth and easy. The close focus of 1.6m is unmatched by even the faster Canon 200mm f1.8 which only manages 2.5m. This allows use as a "wide-macro" lens with an approx 1:5 reproduction ratio.

Quality really shows with this lens.

An absolutely wonderful lens. Would never sell it.

Weaknesses:

Manual focus in era of autofocus.
