Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $999.00 from Fotofrenzy

Summary:

I have only recently purchased this lens after using a Zuiko 24mm for many years. This particular Zuiko is simply stunning. The bright F2 aperture is great for focussing in low light. A 92 degree angle of view is superb for those 'big sky' type pictures, especially when used in conjuction with a slim polarising filter (it needs to be a thin framed polariser, like the Olympus C-POL to reduce the chance of vignetting). The build quality is outstanding and typical of most Zuiko's. It looks and feels like a real gem. If I look after it, I think it will last me a lifetime. It is such a shame that the OM system is out of production. In my opinion nothing can touch Zuiko optics. The results are incredibly sharp, but I had little doubt about this, given the high cost. Highly recommended, but a scarce optic to source, even secondhand.

Strengths:

Build quality Image quality Size

Weaknesses:

Cost, but it is worth the money It is a shame that the system is discontinued.

Customer Service:

Never needed it in the 22 years I have used olympus.

Review 5 of 5

Model Reviewed:
OM-Zuiko 21mm f2.0

Summary:

Wonderful lens -- if you like it wide and fast, this is the lens for you.

Strengths:

It is the only lens in its class (f2 ultrawide), but far from a mere "gimmic" lens, it exceeds the quality of slower ultra-wides. I also use it with the Olympus 7mm extension tube for macro.

Weaknesses:

It is much bigger and heavier than the Zuiko 21/3.5. Expensive. Hard to locate used.

Similar Products Used:

Zuiko 21mm f3.5.
