Price Paid:  $199.00

Summary:

You can compare features, ease of use, price, weight/size, and the list goes on, but the defining decision for me is the picture. The Olympus 3020 is easy to use, versatile and compact, but the pictures are so clear, so sharp, and the colors are so vibrant, that I sit in awe every time I download. My first SLR, 25 years ago, was an Olympus, and it proved to be a very reliable tool for many years. This camera has been just as sturdy and reliable in the 14 months I’ve owned it, despite my daughter’s dropping it on the pavement. I use rechargeable NIMH-AA batteries, so I’m always powered up and ready to shoot. I love this camera.

Strengths:

The pictures!!!

Weaknesses:

The lens cap...I really need to pick up an extension.

Review 2 of 18

Price Paid:  $650.00 from RAF Lelystad

Summary:

This was my very first digital camera. I bought this camera in Almere more than 1 year ago. before pruchase I did tons of research, before I decided on this specific model. Its price and features are unmatched. Its got a lot of settings one can maunally adjust, however the "P" setting is just perfect for easy use. For the pro amon us, you can adjust for example the shutter speeds, light balance and many other settings. If you need a camera which you will never feel sorry to have bought, then this is it.

Strengths:

Suitable for both pro and novice. Crisp photo's. Due to the lens makes wide big foto's which other camera's dot do.

Weaknesses:

No audio with the recorded movies. Movies recorded in Apple Quicktime format.

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

Have never had to use it. The Manual is supplied in many languages, including Dutch.

Review 3 of 18

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Office Max

Summary:

This camera is awesome! Probably best bang for your buck out right now (new). If you're looking for a digital camera right now, this is it. It has most of the fuctions you only see on professional SLRs, with automatic simplicity if you wish. The optics are great. The zoom lens has a great range allowing for wide-angle to 96mm for very decent portraits, with a very nice macro function. Picture quality, superb. It's a real 3.2 mega-pixel camera that blew me away. 8 x 10s printed on a photo printer look awesome! I honestly can't tell the difference between that a film print. You also have a wide selection as far as quality goes. You can take 640x480s for on-screen veiwing, or SHQ-TIFF for film rivaling prints. I've finally bid a fare-well to film with this camera! I can't wait to get a digital SLR, which will again be from Olympus. This is a serious camera, with a price that doesn't call for a second morgage! I even use it for some of my professional work.

Strengths:

Settings you only see in "pro" cameras, 3x zoom, Scene modes, Easy USB connectivity, Just as good as film!

Weaknesses:

The only weakness is that it doesn't come with rechargalbes or a larger SM card.

Similar Products Used:

Canon powershot a40, other sub 3mp cameras, and 35mm.

Customer Service:

Haven't had to use it yet. (KNOCK ON WOOD)

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $399.00 from Office Max

Summary:

I wanted a camera with at least 3 MPs and finaly decided to purchase the C-3020Z for the manual and point and shoot features. I have to say I ws not disapointed with the quality of photos I was able to produce from this camera. They are outstanding even when compared to the 35MM cameras I was used to. Like the other reviews though I was concerned with the way the lens cap had to be removed before turning the camera on, but I cured the problem when I bought an extension tube and a 43MM X 49MM adapter ring with a 49MM UV filter now the lens can extend inside the tube with the 49MM lens cap on with no problem. This also allows me to use various 49MM filters.

Strengths:

Very clear and sharp photos even 8X10s. down loading is a snap to the P.C. with a UBS cable (supplied). Can setup your camera manualy or point and shoot.

Weaknesses:

None with the exception of the lens cap which was solved with the extension tube at a low price from cicuit city.

Similar Products Used:

only 35MM film cameras

Customer Service:

Very prompt when I had a question about taking photos with the tube extension on the camera and found you need to zome out a ways or it looks like you took the photo throgh a pipe.

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $189.00 from returnbuy.com

Summary:

Bought the 3020 on Ebay from returnbuy.com and ever since I got this gizmo I have been thrilled with the quality of pictures I am taking. I printed a few on a 8.5 by 11 page sheet and the result was outstanding. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking to buy a 3.x megapixel camera but not wanting to spend too much.

Strengths:

Excellent Flash depth. Exposure compensation under low light (tri.monopod recommended).

Weaknesses:

Size. If you are looking for something small this is not for you. No audio in the mpeg.

Similar Products Used:

Couple of different 1.x megapixel cameras nothing worth mentioning.
