Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $150.00 from ebay

Summary:

This is about the 8th digital camera I've bought and it's just about what I was looking for. I have an Olympus C2100UZ with a 10X stabalized zoom but I wanted a little pocket camera to tote around in my pocket or auto all the time. For a 1.3mp camera I think it takes great photos and is very easy to use. I saved the lithium battery as a backup as it has a long shelf life. I put 2 1600mah Nimh batt's in it and have been useing it for several days. It sure is easy on batterys.

Strengths:

Little, light and easy to use. Easy on battery's.

Weaknesses:

none if you use it for what it was made for.

Similar Products Used:

too many to even mention

Customer Service:

none on any Oly cameras so far.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

This camera is a very basic point and shoot model which is currently available at a very good price ($150 at CostCo). I just picked one up for a family member to use, and I have to say that the images that it generates are quite good with excellent exposure and white balance. Maximizes resolution of a 1.3 MP camera.

Strengths:

Great value Very good picture quality Quick shutter release once pre-focused. Very compact

Weaknesses:

Limited low light capability No panorama function

Similar Products Used:

Sony P-series

Customer Service:

Not needed

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $225.00 from Cameta Camera

Summary:

As a true novice I stumbled upon a winner the first time out. The camera and software are easy to use and the results far more than I could have expected. The salesman suggested a card reader/writer ( Zio ! ) to use when viewing the photos on my computer. This along with not using the monitor screen to frame pictures when shooting, has resulted in excellent battery life. ( Two weeks after my purchase I''m still using the original lithium batteries ! ) I don''t know if a pro would be as satisfied as me but I do reccommend this camera to first time buyers.

Strengths:

Long battery life, easy to use, feels good to hold.

Weaknesses:

None that I can name

Similar Products Used:

None

Customer Service:

No experience

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $220.00 from UK in pounds

Summary:

This is my first digital camera although I have many years experience of most aspects of 35mm and medium format photography. I bought the C1 Zoom (as it is known in Europe) mainly to take sailing photos for my web site. A compact pocketable size was an important issue and high resolution was not. I took some time to decide between the C1 Zoom and the C2 which is a more capable camera but went for the C1Z on grounds of size and cost. It takes great outdoor shots and the standard quality setting - 80 pix on the 8MB card is entirely adeaquate for web use.The outdoor brightly lit shots are very crisp. I have been less happy with the sharpness on indoor flash shots - I''m not sure if it''s a problem with slow autofocus or a touch of camera shake - although I don''t usuall;y find this a problem. I''d be surprised if it was lens softness at full aperture but I''m still getting used to the camera. Colour rendering on the auto setting is spot on. One definite problem is the time it takes to activate itself. The delay between pressing the button and the picture being taken is well long enouth to lose the decisive moment. Would be Cartier-Bressons and action photographers shouldn''t bother. I don''t know how widespread this problem is on digital cameras. The Olympus software installation was not wholly obvious but once installed the uploaded of photos by USB is dead easy and fast. I just drag them across in Windows Explorer. The C1 Zoom is a bit more point and shoot than I''m used to but I think for my outdoor requirements for web sailing pix it will be fine and it certainly slides easily into any pocket

Strengths:

Pocketability. Good lens (in bright light at least) Only two AA cells which last quite well if you avoid using the LCD Easy USB interface. Low price - getting cheaper all the time.

Weaknesses:

Slow to operate. Useless for action shots. Not sure about sharpness of indoor flash shots.

Similar Products Used:

Much more pocketable than the Coolpix 950!

Customer Service:

No need to try it.
