from Staples.com Summary: I''ve had this camera for about 4 months now. Having taken probably close to a thousand pictures, I will summarize the major strengths and weaknesses.
The small size is probably the best feature of this camera. It fits nicely in your pocket, so you''ll find yourself carrying it to places you normally wouldn''t, and you''ll be surprised at the shots you get.
The USB connection is fast and very simple to use. Video out feature is also handy when on vacations.
The supplied 8 Mb card is pretty much useless except for shooting in low-res for email or web. Get a 64 Mb card, they''re cheap these days. It will NOT support a 128 Mb card.
Battery consuption is quite good. Make sure you use 1500 mAH or higher NiMH batteries.
The biggest problem (not really a problem, just an annoyance) I have with this camera is the interface. After taking a picture, it stays on the LCD for a few seconds and disappears. In order to bring it back on screen again, you must close the camera and press the display button and wait a few seconds. At that point, you can choose to delete the picture. The whole process takes too long and you have to wait for the camera to ''boot up'' again to continue shooting. IMO, the picture you just took should stay on the LCD until you accept or delete it.
Image quality is excellent in daylight conditions. Not great at night time, but that is common in this price range. You will notice warpage to the sides of the image, especially when taking pictures of structures.
The time in between shots varies significantly. Sometimes, it''s ready to go right away; other times, it can take up to 10 seconds (no kidding!). The camera is either trying to find focus, or is recharging the flash. Makes me question the marketing of "ultra fast point and shoot".
In summary....this camera is great as an introduction to digital. The Canon digital elph is probably the only other camera smaller or lighter (I think it''s too small to hold steady). I have no regrets buying this Olympus. Get it and start shooting. Strengths: - Small size
- USB connection
- Video out
- Nice macro shots Weaknesses: - Variable shot-to-shot time
- Variable ''boot up'' time
- LCD interface
- No zoom (but you already knew that if you''re looking at this model)
- Image warp on the sides Similar Products Used: Kodak DC215 Customer Service: Not used
