Price Paid:  $149.00 from Office Max

Summary:

OK, I have been in the Video Industry for almost 10 years. The experience I have with ProDV equipment is quite extensive. This aside, I purchased the camera at a local Office Max on the simple basis that number 1)It was VERY Inexpensive and 2) It caught my eye. It was a bigger style Digital camera, and I like that in any camera. I brought it home, did not even read the manual, and started taking pictures. MAN! I was impressed. I had to go purchase a seperate SmartMedia Reader for my MAC, (running OSX) bit once I did, getting the shots to my box was simple. I agree, it does need a viewfinder, but I took a picture of my son in COMPLETE darkness guessing where he would be and with the auto flash on and VOILA - excelent picture. I give this camera a 5 star rating.

Strengths:

Easy to handle (Big Camera) Its strong. I put it on a tripod, lifted it up, it hit my ceiling fan - kept on ticking. Excelent Picture Quality

Weaknesses:

Eats Batteries

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

Great camera. Fast downloading to your computer, great images. One nice feature is that you can zoom in/crop images in-camera and print it out. The polaroid pics are not the greatest but, hey, they are poloraid pics! You''re not going to frame those... The DL''d images are printworthy. Its a cool camera.

Weaknesses:

I wish it had a viewfinder. The screen is hard to see in full-sun. Otherwise, I love it.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $225.00 from eBay

Summary:

Very nice camera if you can get a good price. Several pretty cool features. But read very carefully about the viewfinder/LCD difficulty below.

Strengths:

High quality, crisp, photos very capable of being blown up and printed to 8x10. Many modes to choose from.

Weaknesses:

1. Not nearly enough memory on factory instally SmartMedia card...must upgrade immediately. 2. Eats batteries like candy...must buy charger and rechargables immediately. 3. The LCD is virtually impossible to see on a sunny day...it is sorta like shooting blind. If this camera had a view finder, I would rate it a "must have."

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Costco, Sunnyvale

Summary:

This toy is the best bet for the money you pay for. Till date I have extensively used film cameras, including some professioal models and suddenly got an interest to try out digital, because of the pain involved in the getting the prints, scanning etc in the film world. My requirements were quite simple. Since I was new to this digital, I did not want to invest a lot of money on expensive models that have a lot of features that I would hardly use. Instead, I wanted a good camera that is really worth the money. I decided to go with the brand known for its optical quality (this rules out sony etc) and this helped narrowed down to some known brands like Nikon, Minolta, Canon and Olympus. Being a Nikon fan, I could not even think about going for Canon (;-)) and realized Nikon is really expensive. The next choices were Minolta and Olympus and I decided upon the Olympus. When I was looking for a decent resolution (2.1MP and above) this was the cheapest one I could see in the Market. The features that I really like in this camera are 1. 3x optical zoom (hard to find in cameras in this price range) 2. Aspherical lens (good optics) 3. 2" LCD (really big one) 4. 2.1 Mega Pixels 5. Controls on Gains, exposure 6. Panorama Mode 7. The price (though it is selling for $299 at costco, many sell it for $500 and above) 8. Built-in printer (I am not sure if I will be using this feature, but for some this will be great) with $40 worth of polaroid 500 film pack 9. It is from Olympus (who are well-known for quality optics) I have tried photos in all the modes and image quality and tonal range is awesome. I would definitely recommend this camera to any one.

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Costco

Summary:

I just bought this camera but I am totally pleased. It is easy to use and it''s great if you want actual photos at the time of taking the pic as it uses a Polaroid film pack and can make hardcopies instantly. It also can make very short movie clips ------ it''s great for the $299.00 I paid.

Strengths:

Very good quality picture.

Weaknesses:

Bulky and somewhat heavy.
