Review 1 of 127

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Apple Electronics, N

Summary:

I bought my Camedia 2020 a year ago May, and was pretty pleased with it until the SmartMemory drive failed, just 3 months past warranty! That's the trouble with a digital camera--without the memory drive, it just won't work! Olympus America's Customer Service Dept. is still pretending it doesn't exist--my email, letters and phonecalls have all been ignored. Private Olympus-authorized repair stores estimate the repairs at $160 ($75 labor, $95 parts) to $229, plus shipping & handling. Pretty expensive for a 15-month-old camera that cost $299. I would list this camera as a "Do Not Buy" type of bargain! It's the most expensive disposable camera I've ever had.

Strengths:

Excellent design, fast lens, easy to use.

Weaknesses:

Unreliable, poorly manufactured, expensive to repair.

Similar Products Used:

Pentax, Canon, Pen FT

Customer Service:

Virtually non-existent.

Review 2 of 127

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:

I got this camera two years ago before going to France on a sabbatical. This camera, and the others in the Olympus C-series are remarkable for great low-light capabilities. These cameras have the fastest lenses in their class, and it really does make a great difference for shots obtained in dimly lit restaurants and churches. White balance correction is excellent and results in natural images even in mixed artificial lighting conditions. Superior to the Nikon Coolpix 950 in this respect.

Strengths:

Great low light capability Sharp images

Weaknesses:

Somewhat bulky making it difficult to fit in a pocket. Less than spectacular macro capabilities.

Similar Products Used:

Nikon 950

Customer Service:

Not needed.

Review 3 of 127

Price Paid:  $999.00

Summary:

Displaying photo''s on my PC brought disbelief to the viewers; even though I am not at the highest resolution setting. I selected the camera by viewing the same image taken by different cameras. This was on an independent web site where the image was rated second.

Strengths:

Good battery life and easy to follow manual and menu. Great pictures.

Weaknesses:

Extra cost for case, battery charger, power supply & Flash Path.

Similar Products Used:

Fuji

Customer Service:

Did not need

Review 4 of 127

Price Paid:  $675.00 from Web

Summary:

I am very impressed with the 2020Z. Simple enough for my 7 year-old son to use, but with nice features easily accessible off the various menus. This is my first digital camera and the quality of prints we get on an Epson Stylus 980 are excellent, whilst if we wanted to, we can just take a disk around to the photo lab and get dye sub prints that are indistinguishable from traditional prints. Best investment we made last Christmas.

Strengths:

Simple, good battery life, impressive pictures

Weaknesses:

View finder does not quite match where the lens points, which can be a bit annoying when zoomed in. Wish it came with a larger memory card and power supply as standard. Supplied Mac software somewhat limited.

Similar Products Used:

None worth mentioning

Customer Service:

Excellent. I had two issues, one I didn''t read the manual carefully enough regarding how to take a panoramic picture and the tech support line was easy to get through to and gave me the solution in

Review 5 of 127

Summary:

Like any hi-tech digital products, it will be replaced by another greatest latest model in months. But overall, the 2020 will be able to satisfied at least the normal requirement of any user for a long time.

Yes, it can use a better lens cap design and it should be able to put a protective lens on it, and yes a USB connection will be good. But who is going to keep a digital camera for 10 years like your old Nikon?

I had used digital cameras for over 4 years now and this is the one that I would say I am not into looking for a better one for several years.

Strengths:

Great pictures, fast process time.

Weaknesses:

Expensive when first came out. Some design is not too user friendly.

Similar Products Used:

Kodak DC50, 280; Olympus 600,300,400; Sony Mavica; Nikon coolpix

Customer Service:

No need to use them yet.
