Review 1 of 14

Price Paid:  $350.00 from eBay

Summary:
Quite great in itself, I took it for a spin the first time on a project a friend of mine and I had, about a drug rehab facility and the people that go in and out of it every morning. Truly dazzling experience, it worked like an angel and the project turned out excellent. I completely recommend it for outdoors photography.

Review 2 of 14

Price Paid:  $600.00 from Private

Summary:
Strong, reliable, low price and ultra fast operation and handling. Great camera for any kind of people function or sports where you need to capture the exact moment , either a facial expression or sports movement. Great color straight out of the camera which requires minimal post processing.A great way to go to enter the pro sector of the market at a bargain price.

Strengths:
Cheap.Better than my D50 and D100 - Sharper and I like the accurate results I can get with my SB 600 flash. surprisingly, as it only has DTTL technology. The focusing is lightning fast and high ISO shots show minimal grain. With 2 new cheap independent batteries from EBay the camera can take over a 1000 pictures. Great quality with class glass like my Nikon 17-55mm and Nikkor Non AFS 80-200mm f2.8D Two touch which I have. You don't need AFS as the internal motor is so fast with loads of torque.

Amazing quality for a 2.7 megapixel camera.

Weaknesses:
Heavy. No lithium batteries and the cells must be regularly recharged.Automatic White Balance needs manually adjusting as it just doesn't work if left to itself!

Similar Products Used:
Nikon D50,D100, Fuji S1Pro.

Review 3 of 14

Price Paid:  $670.00 from adoRama

Summary:
This machine still works wonders ! The Nikon D 1 H maybe is an old design but dont let this fool you, this machine has made the front page of Sports Illustrated ,dont u forget that.!

Even today lot of PROS use this Nikon especially in the 3 world.
Well,what happenthe last 12 months??:::>>Heres my experiences ..

So ,i bought another one; a used sample and have not regret it at all.
Actually its raving fast and this summer i had a chance to lend a Nikon D2 X and was able to compare the two machines..i did found it easier in some ways s to work with the new d2x BUT i found the files more sharp better and easyer right from the box with the old D1H !...i preferred the old D1H and saved the money and bought some new glasses; Nikkor 17-55 and the 70-200 VR!
Well, lateer this summer at a soccer game i tried the Canon 1 D mk 2 N and compared the speed and actionspeed from both cameras and found that the margin of course was in favor of the Canon BUT only by a little! actually you can shoot up to 40 jpegs and more than 23 raws in 5 shots per second its very close to the canon 1 which is 48/ 27 raws and super fast 8 shots/sec,well the King is the Canon but i decided to save the money for one more season as i see no reason to shift as my edtor seems to be glad fort he files this >old>machine produce and i try not to be a camera snob. Why buy new and be in depth when you can be happy with the existing?i saved lot of dollars by doing so and furthermore i discovered that the new batteries you get on the market is better than the originals and a lot cheaper and last forever! with two new design OEM batteries it can last for an assignment for a whole day!
The NIKON D1 H certainly still rules and is the Queen of sports ;PJ action assignments and general work even if you worj in RAW format...! its a pro machineAnother benefit >It is so strong so i now know i can use as a hammer!!*LOL*

Strengths:
FAAAST !! fast ,fast AF...and strong and precise and steady,,and weathersealed...and ...and-....its super PRO...even today!!
and make very sharp sharp files..

Weaknesses:
a little heavy...! outdated design

Similar Products Used:
Canon 1 D,1 D mk 2,Nikon D2X ,Nikon D1 X...10D,30D,D30,D400....OLY E500 and so on...

Customer Service:
Nope...

Review 4 of 14

Price Paid:  $870.00 from ado

Summary:
The Nikon D 1 H camera is a full time Pro camera in any regards and full of the potential it can give a photographer who need a camera in the state of art class. As a (normal)Canon user i was hesitant to try Nikon, but another photographer and now a dealer for a respected store convinced me at once. As a full time PJ im very critical of my work and equipment. I tried many types and machines; but this one, even it was used and (old) gave me the feeling of having a PRO picture making machine in the high end class. So far im very impressed also of the AF speed,i forget all about USM and HSM and all tha snack and just shoot away with any lenses whether they are from Nikon or another brand. Also the ISO at high settings is formidable even compared to new DSLRs !. My editor was recently so impressed of a series of pics taken with the little cheapie Nikkor 50 mm 1,8 that he almost cried of the sharpness, colours and files it produced;right out of the box using no PS.(some others made with a Phoenix 19-35 was also very impressive too)...so... For newspapers the> small> Pixel amount is enough and we are all happy! This is a great machine, and i consider to buy one more D1 H ..(or maybe the new d200?) NIKON ; You are great!

Strengths:
FAST FAST FAST...right color...super AF..strong ...and and....just right..for the PRO PJ...and you could go on... and its cheaper (used )compared to anything else!!? wauw.

Weaknesses:
none--battery perhaps?? buy two or 3 xtra

Similar Products Used:
many types canon d1..10 d..1 d m2 30 d and so on

Customer Service:
nope..it is so strong made (in japan)

Review 5 of 14

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
After using the D1 for about a year, and realizing I needed a better pro camera for fast sports I started looking around for another camera. The D70 I have is awsome, but the fps weren't as fast as I wanted. After shopping around for a while I found a D1h on ebay with a bunch of accessories for less than $1000. I jumped on it and haven't regretted it since. Being a college student I couldn't afford to get a D2h or D2x. I tend to use this camera more than I do my D70. AF is awsome, picture quality out of the camera is great, and the menus are easy to get through and understand. Being able to use the high ISO (around 800-1600) is a HUGE improvement over the D1. I brought the camera to shoot a hockey game, and while shooting at ISO 1600 I could see very little if any noise. The battery lasts much longer on the D1h than it does on my D1.

Strengths:
AF- fast & responsive Picture Quality- Straight out of the camera I like these shots more than my D70 Heavy- Its a strong build, was made to take a beating (if necessary)

Weaknesses:
The little door covering the flash sync connector keeps coming open. Thats about all the problems I got with it!

Similar Products Used:
Nikon D70, D1

Customer Service:
Haven't had to use them yet
