Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $149.00 from Ritz Camera

Summary:
I may have the predecessor because my lense is a f/4.0-5.6 60mm - 180mm IX Nikkor.

This lense was purchased along with my first SLR, a Nikon Pronea6i in 1999. I was a little hesitant about the plastic mounting, however I have put this lense through the ringer even dropped it once while climbing on some rocks. A little scuff but no real damage. This lense has performed wonderfully for me during these first two years of getting serious about photography as a hobby. I ran into a herd of Elk in the California Redwoods where the 180mm focal length gave me some great closeups of a couple of Bulls in velvet. I have even performed some 'macro' shots of our flower garden which resulted in good clarity and sharp images for what I required. I would recommend this lense to anyone who is trying to move beyond the point-and-shoots and into more creative photography.

Strengths:
Quick to mount
Great focal lengths
Durable
Another high quality optic from Nikon!

Weaknesses:
For the price, and speed of this lense, NONE.

Customer Service:
Never had to use them

Review 2 of 3

Model Reviewed:
I.X. 60-180mm f/4.5-5.6 for Pronea S

Summary:
Nice and pretty fast for the price ($99.90 when buying together with the Pronea 6i at Ritzcamera). Never had a lens with a plastic mounting - let's see. Hopefully the price is not adequate to the quality.

Strengths:
Lightweight, good tele ratio (35mm - 75-225).

Weaknesses:
Plastic mounting ring.

Similar Products Used:
Nikkor 35mm, Sigma.

Customer Service:
Not tried yet.

Review 3 of 3

Model Reviewed:
I.X. 60-180mm f/4.5-5.6 for Pronea S

Summary:
I was surprised at how pleased I was with the lens and the results. Took it on a trip to Europe and was delighted with the ease of handling and carrying.

Strengths:
Clear, sharp pictures and fine color. The light weight is well-suited to the Pronea S, without the front-heavy feel a comparable zoom would produce on a 35mm camera.

Weaknesses:
None whatsoever

Similar Products Used:
None

Customer Service:
Never needed any
