Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $1200.00 from Local camera store

Summary:
I have now used this lens for over two years. This is my favorite lens and the only reason that I still use the Leica SLR even though I have the M. The picture quality of this lens will amaze you. Yes, it is expensive, but if you want the best picture quality then the price is irrelevant. After using this lens for a few years and getting excellent results, the initial investment for this lens will pay for itself. If you are thinking of getting into Leica SLR, this is the lens you want to have. You will not regret it.

Strengths:
Exceptional Image quality, color contrast, no flare. Also the built in lens hood is a plus.

Weaknesses:
Some people may think its expensive, but then you can always get it used.

Similar Products Used:
Leica Elamarit 135mm/2.8. Leica Summicron 50mm for M. Various nikon lenses.

Review 2 of 5

Price Paid:  $650.00 from Jakarta

Summary:
Excellent for low light photography. This lens can be bought on the used market for a fraction of its new price. That's the best bet, since it's not rare.

Strengths:
Excellent sharpness and contrast, even wide open and at close range. Reproduction seems flawless. Has its own built-in sliding lens hood.

Weaknesses:
None found. I don't think the weight and size of this lens are out of proportion to its maximum aperture of f/2.

Similar Products Used:
Olympus Zuiko 28mm/2.8 and 50/1.4.

Review 3 of 5

Summary:
The best lens I have ever had. Wear it on my R8 90% of the time. It's my standard lens. Gives excellent results.
It IS expensive, but get an old one. Mine is 20 years old, and work as goos as a new one. Can't say that about every brand out there...

Strengths:
Solid construction, sharpness, contrast.
No flare (good glass, Leica!)

Weaknesses:
Price

Review 4 of 5

Model Reviewed:
35mm Summicron-R f/2 (ROM)

Summary:
The image quality is amazing. Not only sharpness, contrast and color quality, but the complete lack of flare and ghost images makes it much more useable in marginal light conditions. If image quality under difficult conditions is important to you, this lens will deliver.

Strengths:
Very solid construction, exceptional image quality, completely free of flare and ghost images.

Weaknesses:
The initial cash outlay is staggering.

Nikon 35mm f/2.0

Review 5 of 5

Model Reviewed:
35mm Summicron-R f/2 (ROM)

Summary:
Great all-around lens. I keep it on my R4 all the time. Yes, it's an expensive lens, but all the Leica glass is. If you've got a Leica body, you've got it to use Leica glass. There's no point in putting a Tamron lens on.

Wish I could mount it to my Nikon bodies!!!

Strengths:
Crisp, well-built & solid, smooth focussing.
Compact.
Built-in lens hood.

Weaknesses:
None.
