Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Dell

Summary:

This camera takes incredible pictures. It has more capabilities than I can use. The 24mm lens is fantastic. Even the VGA movie mode is superb. Night photography is excellent.

Strengths:

24 mm extra wide angle lens. Infinitely variable white balance control. VGA movie mode. Histogram for checking exposure. For the money this is one great camera. I paid $450 a year ago and I have seen it recently for $299 with rebates.

Weaknesses:

None.

Similar Products Used:

Kodak DX 430
Sony T30

Customer Service:

None needed.

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $424.00 from abes of maine

Summary:

An excellent camera for its intended audience and purpose. It is an alternative to a DSLR in the "way under $1,000" range. It has an extremely useful zoom range of 24-140mm, where I do most of my shooting, and the lens is as sharp as my brothers Canon 17-85 L lens in the corners, with less chromatic aberration. The camera also stores images in RAW format, if that is necessary. The ability to use an external TTL flash that autozooms the head is remarkable for this price point. Also, you can bounce the external flash and use the on-camera pop-up flash as an additional modeling light. The full exposure controls are excellent once you get used to the occasional anomoly (full macro focusing is under "Flower close up"). I prefer the many buttons on the back to a menu as I can directly press the button for the desired function, rather than fiddle with a complicated menu. I researched all cameras in this price point (Fuji S9000, Konica/Minolta A200, etc) and it has the best combinaltion of features- lens sharpness, flash capability, and zoom range.

Strengths:

Excellent zoom range, excellent lens sharpness, great TTL flash.

Weaknesses:

Slow autofocus in dim light, slow USB (1.0) access, rear LCD could be higher resolution, manual focus aid could be better.

Customer Service:

excellent via email
