Summary:
I've had the opportunity to shoot several rolls of NPH during the past few months with my Canon Elan II and Speedlite 380EX. I can honestly that it is an awesome film!! I have achieved consistent results with or without flash on portrait shots. If you want your portraits to look good and want accurate skin tones, I would recommend NPH without hesitation. I also love the fact that there is virtually no grain present. My 4x6 and 5x7 prints are just outstanding on Crystal Archive paper without signs any of grain. I am by no means a pro photographer but the family members that have seen my NPH portraits have commented on how "good" the people look in the picture. I would like to think that I can take part of the credit but I also believe the film makes a huge difference. Great product Fuji!!!

Strengths:
+ Great skin tones + Lack of visible grain + Extra ISO speed when needed + Great with flash

Weaknesses:
So far so good. If I find any weaknesses I will comment later.

Summary:
I own a Canon 1D MkII and a Nikon D70, and I consider myself fairly open minded to brand and format; but I consider 35mm film to be quite poor (I love the look of MF film but don't shoot it). Went to Antigua recently and didn't want to worry about camera theft, so I brought an old Elan IIe and a crappy Tamron zoom lens along with 7 rolls of NPH. Shot only 1 1/2 rolls as I thought I would be disappointed with the 35mm film results. Big mistake. This film rocks for people shots. I'm really very impressed. It renders skin tones slightly soft and creamy and is *very* flattering. In fact, it is close to the effect I laboriously try to achieve in PS with my digital files. If Fuji could engineer a quantum decrease in grain, I'd be hard pressed to buy a new digital camera for some time to come.

Strengths:
Makes people look very good. Don't forget to use fill flash outside folks - can turn a good shot into a great one.

Weaknesses:
Can't take it out of the camera and upload it to my computer via my CF card reader :)

Summary:
After reading the reviews, I had to try it. Outstanding film. Went out and took some pics of some models at a car show with a Canon 420EX flash, and the results were very pleasing. I wanted to test this film out because I'm preparing for wedding photography in the near future, and as many people have suggested, this is the film for the job. I've used Fuji products before, and have always been pleased. However, I realize that the big difference in price is worth every penny.

Strengths:
Good contrast, great colors, terrific skin tones.

Weaknesses:
Too expensive at the local pro camera stores. Need to order through Internet.

Summary:
I read many reviews on this film and decided to get a roll. I forgot about this roll in my fridge and I got a call to shoot some prom photos for a good friend. I remembered this film and shot it. This film was very forgiving. I definetly made some exposure mistakes, but in the prints you wouldn't be able to tell. The colors were outstanding. I am very impressed. I don't think I would use it again for the same application due to the fact that my 8x10 enlargements had very noticible grain (to be expected from 400 speed film). I will try the NPS next time. This was a very nice film tho.

Strengths:
colors were fantastic, forgiving

Weaknesses:
grain in enlargements is quite high, price

Summary:
Uotstanding color portrait film. Being a casual "family album" photographer I didn't have much luck with color films for portraits. The over-saturated face tones with ugly red stains produced by all-around print emulsions (superia, kodak gold) forced me to use B&W for portrait works. Until I got scans of my first NPH roll. The skin tones are perfect. Saturated and accurate, natural reproduction. This film perfectly captures the mood with available light. This film is a perfect choice in times when adding color to portrait work seems attractive.

Strengths:
Perfect skin tones.

Weaknesses:
Not really an ISO400 in available light. Cyan-cast on everything but skin. Didn't have much luck with flash fotography.
