Review 2 of 28

Price Paid:  $450.00 from Grobet, Antwerp

Summary:
First step into digital photography after using a Canon EOS300 (Rebel 2000) for about 3 years. Picture quality, zoom and macro are fine. Construction is rather weak. Xd-cards are (at least in Europe) expensive compared to SM or CF. Note: price paid is in €

Strengths:
(1) strong zoom (6x), (2) good macro (3) picture quality and resolution good enough for 20x30 cm prints (4) battery life

Weaknesses:
(1) shutter lag: as most low budget digital cameras, impossible to use for action shots (2) construction: lens cap (mentioned many times in other reviews ...) putting the camera in its protection case (not standard delivered with the camera) should be done carefully or it will switch on the camera, the slot of the battery compartment is constructed weak as well. (3) when saving pictures in FinePixViewer (pc software that comes with the camera), that's always done to the same directory which means I have to browse over and over again to put pictures in the directory I want. Irritating.

Review 3 of 28

Price Paid:  $650.00 from Bureau En Gros

Summary:
This is a fantastic little camera for the money. Very nice optics (like everyone has said already) and great overall ease of use and configuration.

Strengths:
- Good bang for the buck - Good features - not too heavy

Weaknesses:
- in macro mode it is hard to get close to the subject without casting a shadow... - eats through batts easily, no option for lithium batts :(

Review 5 of 28

Price Paid:  $449.00 from Best Buys

Summary:
Overall, this is a very good digital camera. It has superb image capture capability and with its 6X optical zoom its almost unbeatable with its price range. If you are an avid user of the old 35mm analog camera, with one use of the FinePix 3800 you will imediately see a huge difference in terms of picture quality. Plus, with a good colour printer you will never lay hands on your 35mm ever again.

Strengths:
Super crisp, almost realistic image quality. Clear LCD sreen and good control navigation. 6X zoom almost unmatched by other digital cameras below 400 USD. Excellent optics, with easy to use aperture adjustments.

Weaknesses:
Deep in your heart you know that a single and disastrous fall would bring an end to your hard earned 450 bucks equipment. In short, Finepix 3800... EXTREMELY FRAGILE!!!

Similar Products Used:
IXUS, 7650, 6100, Camedia, SLR

Customer Service:
Nice customer service, but has limited insurance.
