from Internet Summary: This is the cream of the crop as far as photo editing software goes IMHO. I have only scratched the surface of what this program is capable of of doing. I was using PS 5 before purchasing this and the new tools like the healing brush, spot healing brush, and patch tools are great for cleaning up old slides. The exposure adjustment and shadow/highlight tools are also wonderfull additions. These may not be new for people upgrading from CS but are a giant leap when going from PS5 to CS2. For me, the best part about this program is the build in RAW converter. It is so easy to use, and does a wonderful job with my RAW conversions. It's as easy to use for batching a large group of RAW files as it is a single image. I also love how the browser opens as a seperate program.
The one thing I don't like about it is that it can really slow down your computer if you don't have enough memory. I'm only running a Toshiba Satellite P35-S609 laptop with a Pentium 4 3.20Ghz processor (538) with 512mb of RAM right now, and an upgrade would help. This is not CS2's fault tho.
I gave it a value rating of 5 because I got the student version for $200, There is no dif. between the student version, and the regular version, other than the price. I dought I would have even considered this program if I had to pay full price.
UPDATED 2/10/06 per MJS1973 to clarify computer configuration by ken1953 Strengths: Easy transision from older versions of PS. RAW converter. Browser opens as a seperate program. Very convienent tools such as the healing bursh, spot healing brush and the patch tool. Weaknesses: Price, if you have to pay full price that is. System requirements. Beef up your RAM if you don't have at least 1gig.
This program can be very overwhelming if it's your first time using Photoshop. Similar Products Used: Photoshop 5
Photoshop Elements 2.0
Photoshop CS for some very basic stuff at work Customer Service: Never had to call them.
