I purchased this Monopod because it was supposed to be tough and of high quality. It was being used with a Nikon 200D Camera. About the 3rd or 4th time I used it (about a month after I purchased it), it was dropped and the top of the monopod split in half. mobile diesel mechanic

Strength:

Manfrotto has a good name and I was attracted by that. Upland Natural Stone have only had the monopod for a few days so have yet to test it 'in anger, so to speak. It's very well built and designed well. It's sturdy but not too heavy. Overall, this is a great inexpensive purchase for someone just getting into photography or an experienced pro. It's inexpensive, as photography gear goes, and works.

Weakness:

If you have a heavier camera setup and need a monopod, you can't go wrong with this one.

Strength:

Rugged
Quality Construction
Compact
Good Total Height
Good Value
Easy To Use

Weakness:

A Bit Heavy
Could Use A Shoulder Carrying Strap

This is my first monopod. I've used high quality tripods for landscape photography but needed something that would fit in my motorcycle luggage and do an adequate job of supporting my Nikon D90 with a 70-300mm lens.

The Manfrotto 680B Monopod is rugged, sturdy and has the feel of a quality tool. It's extremely easy to use, especially with the Manfrotto quick release bracket. I use a Manfrotto 222 Joystick head on this monopod. That raises my platform almost a foot and allows me an easy line of sight for the camera's "Live View" mode.

I still use a tripod for time lapse, panoramic & still photography where exact positioning is critical. The Manfrotto 680B is used for everything else. I couldn't b happier with its performance at a bargain price.

Strength:

Quality Build, Value, size when folded for transporting

Weakness:

Maybe be an inch or two too short for tall shooters and may need to add a head to counteract this

Have used this product extensively with a Canon 30 D / 300D and mostly carrying a Sigma 100-300 F4 with 1.4X TC attached. Have found this compact monopod extermely useful for wildlife / sports usage and quite possibly my best value for money photographic accessory I have bought to date - period.

Only fault I had found with this was that it was slightly too short for me at first (I am 6ft 1' tall) but by adding 234 RC quick release head resolved this issue and gave me even greater value from this device. Superbly built I would recommend this item without reservation - for normal use of course................

Have since had a number of colleagues buy / use same model or 680 all with positive feedback.

Strength:

Good appearance.

Weakness:

Poor quality and easy to break.

I purchased this Monopod because it was supposed to be tough and of high quality. It was being used with a Nikon 200D Camera. About the 3rd or 4th time I used it (about a month after I purchased it), it was dropped and the top of the monopod split in half. I returned it to the camera store and it was sent back to Manfrotto for repair. After about 3 weeks the camera store called and said Manfrotto said it would not be covered under warranty and to repair it would cost $65.50 or $4.99 less than what I paid for it new. Obviously Manfrotto does not want to be in the repair business. Needless to say I will not have this monopod repaired and will not be buying anyting with this brand name attached to it.

Customer Service

The warranty behind Manfrotto Monopods appears to be useless.
