Strength:

720 hd Video this is new and MUCH better than the old format.
Better than comp. for indoor photos
Relistic color great detail

Weakness:

All waterproof point and shoots need to improve indoor and dark shot photos. This camera is imposable to find had to buy online, spent a whole day calling! And I live in a major city with an international airport.

As a Mom of 2 active kids I wanted a point and shoot (already have a refex). My last point n shoot was dropped in water. I selected the TS1 after reviewing most of the waterproofs avalable in 6/10. After reading about cameras that make your friends look like clowns and fighting w the controls to override all these goofy options I narrowed it down to 3. Panasonic has according to reviews the best photos of people great detail and color. best video.

I have to WONDER all the waterproof complaints stem from people who have taken their camera on airplanes. IT SEEMS TO ME that something that is sealed so tightly would have to pop like your ears on the airplane when the cabin is presurized. I WOULD RECOMEND FLYING WITH THE BODY OPEN so as to not damage the gaskets.

I can't wait to get my camera! Should be here tomarrow. Will let you know how it does, although I have no plans to fly in the near fututre.

Strength:

- Plenty of settings to choose from.
- HD Video is awesome
- Easy navigation of menus
- WATERPROOF
- Operates without problems in cold, blizzardy conditions.
- Good, quality construction
- Orange
- Love the image stability and face recognition feature

Weakness:

- Color seems a bit "water color-y" but still playing around with the settings.
- Bundled software is a bit cumbersome and weird to navigate.
- Lens is in the upper corner, can get obstructed when using w/ ski gloves.
- Face recognition isn't 100% accurate but still very good.

I became interested in this camera from Photo-John's comprehensive review of the 2009 Miami Lumix launch back in February 2009 and his review is pretty spot on.

I gifted the TS1 to my wife last Christmas knowing full well that I was going to use it more than her. We both have used it solidly since then with a trip to China, multiple trips skiing, mountain biking, and general everyday party/ family/ pet shots. I am very impressed with the camera so far; it's fairly easy to use, small but with a nice weighty feel, and from what I can see so far, pretty bombproof. I really like the iA shooting mode and the HD video with zoom is awesome. If you are looking for a waterproof and shockproof point and shoot that you can forget about in your backpack while you go exploring the backcountry, I can recommend the TS1.

This is not a durable camera. I had it less than a month and the lens broke. I did nothing out of the ordinary with the camera. I sent it in to Panasonic and they would not back their product up. They took my money and I recieved nothing but hours of being on hold. I would not reccomend this camera.

Strength:

Good full HD video
Shockproof
Good battery life

Weakness:

No cover for the lens
Using the camera at the beach, the sand will for sure sctrach your LCD screen
LCD screen if used under direct sunlight become a mirror
Reproduction of colour is not very good, all the pictures are greenish
Too many programs. If the camera should be easy to use, then one automatic program for beginner is enough, but then give us (more expert) the possibility to set the parametrs manually instead of choosing between a lot of other automatic programs (not usefull at all)

I bought it after reading a lot of review on internet.
I decided for this model for its HD video and wider zoom available. The other choice was the Canon Powershot D10. I I could come back I will pick this one!
I was looking for a compact camera to be used beside my Nikon D40 + 18-200 VR lens.
After more then 2 months I'm not happy about this camera.
I used it at beach, underwater, in very wet condition (china).
The screen get scratched after my first use at beach.
The LCD screen in unavailable under direct sunlight, it become a mirror!
Also underwater it is not very easy to point the subjects you want!
I always follow the instructions for cleaning the camera, but after my last immersion the camera did't work anymore! Now I'm waiting for the customer care to be repaired!
