Battery life could be a little better. Get a second battery to have with you.

This is the first digital camera that I have owned. I love it! It could not be any easier to use and I have experienced "NO" problems at all. Very easy connection any of my PCs and totally reliable. I highly recommend this camera to first time digital buyers.

3x optical zoom (about 10x including digital), works with Linux (although there is no tech support for it), compact flash card can be used by other devices, uses a standard disposable photo battery that can be bought almost anywhere, attachment available for converting slides (my dad has thousands of photos he took 35 years ago and none of the family but him has a slide projector), easy to use, and excellent photo.

Red eye, slow response when taking photo.

I absolutely love it. Very easy to use even though it's the first camera I've had that cost over $35. I have had the aforementioned problem with occasional red-eye, but consider it a very minor problem. As a beginner, I find it very easy to fix with software I already had (Print Shop Photo Pro Express). I like the monitor, which can be turned off to conserve battery life (helps considerably). However, it seems to me that the camera is even slower to shoot when the monitor is off. I like the small size. Doesn't have the twist feature of the 995, which we thought was sure to break. Love the movie feature. Takes about a 21 second silent movie. The first one I took was Niagara Falls, the most recent was my sister-in-law and her husband's first dance at their wedding reception. However, I'd turned the camera sideways for a vertical shot and didn't realize I don't have software that will rotate a .mov file. Can anyone help? Extras we have bought include 2 rechargable batteries and a charger and a 128 mg card. I'd love to get a 256 high-speed card. For any Linux users out there, this is one of the few digital cameras out there rumored to work with Linux. There's no customer support for it, but my husband has had absolutely no problem with it while running Mandrake 8.2. Linux compatability was a major selling point for us. I run it on Windows 2000 Pro, no problems with that either.

takes sharp quality photos, close-up details are excellent, controls are simple and easy to operate, spare flash card slot inside leather case is a great idea. rear screen is easy to view during daylight, easy downloading, powerfull flash

red eyes are often showing even when the red light flash option is used...common problem with compact cam because of flash so close from lens. also slow shutter,

excellent camera, its size (compact) is very handy, fits easily inside a shirt front pocket, very easy to use even for beginners. buy a 64/128 mb card if you take it on trips, you can store up to 150 pics at medium resolution / 300 at low reso...the 16 mb card that comes with the 885 is too small and gets full very fast. many of my co-workers have purchased this cam and everyone is very happy with it. contrary to some other reviews, i have had no problems downloading my pics on my cpu using Windows XP. suggest you buy a mini optex tripod ($20 - only 3" long when retracted !), fits inside the leather case and is alway handy to have for group photos.

Slow in capturing fast action scene. Too much red in color context. Nikon should consider 24mm or 28mm - 110mm zoom lenses for future product. Unable to download software to Windows NT 4.0.

Compact size, easy to use, ready to shoot out of the box.I like the 12 different scene modes which make photography much easier for casual photographer. Almost similar function as per my SLR Nikon F60. If you want a value-packed camera with ability to add lenses, then take a serious look at the 885.I have traded the standard Compact flash 16mb to Lexar 128mb. I need more space for my picture.

First digital camera. So far been using Nikon F60 35mm with 28mm - 200mm Tamron lenses.

Lens quality/ picture quality, overall camera ease of use. Very ergonomic in one hand. Simple operation in auto mode and extensive advanced modes of operation.

Computer connection and setup was problematic. Driver problems experienced with WIN98. No support for Win XP yet.

Overall rating is good. The camera itself cannot be beat. However, Nikon still needs to work on the software provided and the plug and play capability with the camera.
