BUILT LIKE WE USED TO DEMAND.....LIKE A TANK!!!
Weakness:
HEAVY....LOCK THE MM OR THE LENS FLOATS TO A DIFFERENT LENGTH. THIS LOCKING FEATURE AT ONE TIME WAS A BIG SELLING FEATURE FOR KIRON LENSES. PROBABLY THE BEST BUY FOR LONG LENS ZOOM QUALITY OPTICS AVAILABLE...BONUS FEATURE ZOOM OUT TO 35 MM BUT POOR SHORT FOCUS ABILITY....SO WHAT...YOU BUY THIS LENS FOR THE LONGER END AND THE ADDED PLUS OF A WIDE ZOOM RANGE AT A DISTANCE. YOU CAN BUY IT FOR LESS THAN A 80-200 OFF BRAND ZOOM. SEE CAMERAWORLD CLOSEOUT PRICE. I PAID $200. FOR MY NIKON AND LESS THAN $150. FOR MY CANON. SOME PEOPLE PAID $300. FOR THIS LENS LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO. Customer Service NO NEED Similar Products Used: SIGMA 28-200 SIGMA 28-105 I OWN THIS LENS IN NIKON & CANON MOUNTS. |

Strength:
build quality, image sharpness
Weakness:
poor close focus capability, slow aperture at 300mm, slow autofocus You really feel that you've got your money's worth when you hold this lens. The images from it are superb, but beware - you'll either need fast film or a decent tripod. Customer Service not needed any Similar Products Used: Kiron 28 - 200, Vivitar 28 - 200, the Tokina beats both lenses hands down when it comes to image quality but the extra 7 |

Strength:
Inexpensive
Weakness:
This is the absolute worst construction if the lens is not stored perfectly flat the zoom starts to extend when the lens is on a neck strap and in manual focus mood the focus will start sliding down 2 weeks after I bought it the rubber rings for zoom and focus started cracking and pealing off. Lens does not come with a hood of lens cap (!) the filter threads are weak and finicky changing a filter fast is impossible and lastly what close focus You get what you pay for and you did not pay much for this lens I use it when it is not critical the photos turnout and I think there is a good chances something might get broken for a toss it in the pack and go lens it is great you get a long zoom because of the plastic construction it is light and if you drop it off a cliff you can say to bad and get a new one on the way home Customer Service Marginal but got the job done Similar Products Used: Lieca |

Lightweight, great travel lens. Have used it for landscapes and bird photography and produced incredibly sharp pics.
Weakness:
Would have wanted at least one stop faster at widest. Great travel lens! But more serious photographers would be happier with a faster lens. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nikon 35-80mm |

Strength:
Excellent range, nice construction, decent size, good optics
Weakness:
close focusing is non existant, just good for scenics and some sports, no close up ! The range is fantastic, durable, but it doesn't satisfy my expectations due to its terrible close focusing ability, keep on looking.... Similar Products Used: 28-200 Nikkor, 28-300 tamron |

Strength:
Sturdy build.
Weakness:
Barrell extends if held down with lock off. I HIGHLY recommend this lens. I have taken 6 rolls of film with it and the pics are very sharp all the way to the edges at any focal length. I found it to be better than the Vivitar, as good as the Minolta and much better than the Nikon. I didn't compare this lense to the top of the line lenses. Strength:
Inexpensive lens with nice crisp optics. Also a nice contrasty lens. It's a heavy lens with 72mm opotics, but i like a well built lens. for the price, it's tough to beat
Weakness:
External focus, and you have to buy a seperate hood, wih is of little value at 200-300mm. Like many Zoom lens with large focal lenghts, it's a little slow, but that's not unusual You have to keep in mind the price of this lens. For the money, it is an excellent "all purpose" lens. Is it comparable to the Canon 50-350 "L" Lens ~ duh, NO. But it's well under 200.00. I recommend it for a beginner, and a good lens to have in the bag for most "non specific" occasions. Customer Service Tokina gives a 2 year warranty. Similar Products Used: Nikon AF 80-200mm f/2.8 D |

Solid Build
Weakness:
Slow aperture This lens is not what everyone seems to think it is. It does not live up to the tokina reputation. I tried it to see if I could survive with one lens on a trip. Unfortunately I can't. The quality of pictures even with a flash was no exceptable even for a 4x6. Outside in during the day you have to use a tripod even a monopod doesn't do the trick. Maybe it was a dud. I am glad I got rid of it. If there was no stars I would give it. Stay with a shorter zoom. Customer Service never needed yet I returned it a week later. Similar Products Used: tamron 28-200 |
