Strength:
52mm filters
Weakness:
28mm is a bit tight on the wide end but I'm using this for people photography.
I love this lens. its very easy to work with due to its comfortable size, weight and feel. Even though its plastic its got a nice well damped action. Its contrasty at all f stops and is virtually flare proof.

It's optics Size & weight
Weakness:
Plastic doesn't have a constant aperture (f3.5-4.5) Focus ring rotates when auto focusing Lens barrel rotates annoying when using a polariser. Optically it's a beauty, may be limited in it's focal range (28mm to 70mm). Light and compact, great for travel or street photography. Strength:
Good for travel because it''''s small and light.cheap filter size (52),good picture quality around F8
Weakness:
Small zoom range...I would like something like 28-85 or 105 ...But after the reviews I read on the 28-105 I thing I will stick with this little fellow for awhile, until Nikon arrive with a 28-105 ED zoom...Low distortion or aspherical lens . It''''s a good little zoom, in fact it''''s my second one I had . Sharpness is very good from 5.6 to 11 .I had once, vignetting at 28 mm, but I replace my big BW filter by a thing Nikon one, shoot at 5.6 and plus and bye bye vignetting...For the distortion, may be I been lucky , because after hundred pictures of landscape with or without filters, never find a problem there.... Customer Service never nead Similar Products Used: oufff, a lot or zooms and lens from Nikon Tamron and Sigma |

Strength:
Light weight, compact, quite sharp (for a non pro lens) excellent value for money.
Weakness:
No good for horizon shots at 28mm on account of the distortion. Poor edge sharpness fully open. This is a top lens for the price (it is discontinued though) it can produce some very sharp images when stopped down to f5.6/f8. Its small, light and fits my FM2 very nicely. I agree with a previous posting, this lens is almost totally immune to flare and ghosting!! Watch the horizon shots at 28 though, the distortion is quite noticeable. All in all im quite happy with my sample of this lens. Customer Service not needed Similar Products Used: 24-50 f3.3-f4.5 |

AF28-70mm f/3.5-4.5D Zoom-Nikkor
Strength:
Small, fast AF, very good result in portraits and landscape.
Weakness:
sometimes I would prefer to have a longer zoom, 70 mm is a little bit too short. One of my best lenses, I use it when I am travelling to India, very usefull to have one lens for landscape and portraits when you don't have time to change the lens. Customer Service not used. Strength:
- This lens, contrary to a previous post, is quite immune to ghosting and flair. I used it extensively in a recent trip to Italy and was quite surprised at this fact.
Weakness:
- Could be longer. I believe that the 28-105 is a more useful and better lens at the same price now. I got mine used for a good price. If I had to buy new, I'd go for the 28-105 as I hear its quite sharp and has a more useful macro feature. Its not a prime, and I don't expect it to be. It served me well in Italy. Several sharp shots came from it. Similar Products Used: Other Nikkor Zooms. Sigma Zooms. |

Strength:
Compact size, good good range, relatively inexpensive.
Weakness:
slow, sloppy manual focus, rotating front element when focusing. Excellent all around lens for the price. Would like the 35-70f2.8 but am waiting for a good used one before I trade up. I use this with my F90x and it works great! Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Nikkor 20mmAF, 55Microf2.8, 75-300AFf4.5-5.6 |

AF28-70mm f/3.5-4.5D Zoom-Nikkor
Strength:
Very neat to focus in very close for a zoom, light compact, autofocus is not ultra fast but it isn't slow either. It has a metal bayonet mount so it will take more abuse. It has Asperical glass elements. As a D lens and with the Sb-28 flash you can get amazing flash photographs.
Weakness:
Discontinued, as well it has poor edge sharpness at faster f stop setting. A good lens for all around pictures, not for real studio or reproduction work. Customer Service Not used Similar Products Used: Many Nikon and Tokina, Tamron, Sigma lenses |

AF28-70mm f/3.5-4.5D Zoom-Nikkor
Strength:
Relativly sharp and pretty quick autofocus. Compact, also.
Weakness:
Zoom range is to short on the long end. Could be a little faster, but would of course cost much more. A good compact zoom that is a great value if you don't need a big focal length. Autofocus and metering are pretty fast and accurate. The zoom range is to tight, though. Customer Service Haven't used yet. Similar Products Used: None. |
