Strength:
* Crisp clear results
Weakness:
* No lens hood This is my first super wide fix focal length lens. In the short time that I have had it, it has produced stunning results. The image comes through crisp and clear. The colors are outstanding. I brought this lens with me to photograph Italy, and all I can say is, wow.

Strength:
Compact, good speed and fair price. It works on film and digital. On my D70 it is a 30mm and great for dancing pics at a reception. You could leave it on the D70 or the F100 at all times, it is that good.
Weakness:
None.Maybe a little flare in bright sun. Keep the lens shade on. Great lens. I use it for weddings when I need a dramatic effect. A lot cheaper than the 18mm or the 14mm. Better sharpness than any zoom. Very good speed at F2.8, at least in the center it is F2.8.Goes real well with the 24mm-85mm zoom as part of a two lens kit. Customer Service None. Strength:
Sharpness, color, contrast, background, doesn't need hood, small.
Weakness:
Not real 2,8, but big deal... Very sharp and colorful, but isn't really 2,8. With film it's 3,5 and digital camera needs to set +1,0 to obtain a correct exp.( sometime +0,5 with my S2 ). Distortions are really issue, not with digital. 17-35 is much better(paradox!), but I love both, and 20 is a little bit (little, I mean!) sharper, but 17-35 delivers a bit better color. Customer Service Never used. Similar Products Used: Almost all of Nikkors. |

Weakness:
Plastic construction, although this is now a plus compared to the new plastic (yikes) lenses Nikon is producing (ex. 24-85g) The best there is. Sharp, sharp, sharp. Excellent contrast as well. Takes it all in. Photos can be cropped (you will need to do this, because of foreground info)and you will still be left with a top notch sharp photo of what is left. Customer Service Sometimes good, sometimes not. Never willing to consider alternative solutions to a problem. Similar Products Used: 28mm/2.8 AIS |

Strength:
Compact and sharpe. With my 2 others Nkkor lens (28-105 $ 80-200 AF-D) they hust the perfect match for the use l do.
Weakness:
Be sure tu use the hood from Nikon and a slim UV filter. If you use a polarizant filter, use one for wide angle. A bit expensive. l have this lens since a year now. l'm very please of it. Very sharpe. Customer Service Never need it. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
really amazingly contrasty [especially with the hood]. fluorescent yellows and blues seem to have a real zing to them. quite sharp. spectacularly wide. with a br2a reversing ring and br5 adapter you can take pictures of dewdrops on grass. i do. depth of field! from 0.7m to infinity at f11. makes manual focusing piss easy. pysically small. [until you put the hood on it, but it's a sacrifice i can live with]
Weakness:
you get some weird flare without a hood [get one: HB4]. corners are a litle soft below f4-ish... if you use more than two filters you get a tiny bit of vignetting. converging/diverging lines if not held absolutely level, but i can live with that. 'flattenning' type distortion at the edges [but what do you expect...?] the bokeh looks strange, even on 1/1000th+, it looks like the background's got camera-shake when the subject is completely sharp. not sure if that's a disadvantage though. i quite like it. i got this lens to take pictures on demonstrations, and for travel photography [in those situations, 28 is hardly ever wide enough], and it's excelled itself. it's amazing how much you can pack into a picture with this lens, it's almost as wide as my field of view. the extreme perspective on this also makes for interesting close/far pictures. sometimes i have wondered if this lens is too wide, and the distortion on the edges is a bit too much, so i'll stop using it for a while, but then i go back to it, and i'm re-stunned by how good it is [variety is the spice of ife etc.] Customer Service not had to use it for this lens, but seems good in general. Strength:
light, compact, uses normal 62mm filters
Weakness:
cost seems steep A very compact and sharp lense. I use this on a Kodak DCS-760 digital (1,3x focal multiplier)and Heliopan thin UV filter. Pictures are sharp. I sometimes find it hard to tell if it has focused properly, possible because it's pretty quiet and the focus ring has very small range of rotation. Strength:
Compact, rugged, wide-angle bright lens.
Weakness:
Aperture ring : plastic Makes a good partner for a D100 (= 30mm). Compact lens with good focus ring, the distortion appearing on a full-frame picture is less visible with reframing (D100). Customer Service none Similar Products Used: 24mm |
